The Board of Public Works (BPW) was formed by the Village of Indian Point to provide for the safe and healthful construction, operation, and on-going maintenance of all private and publicly owned wastewater treatment systems in the Village of Indian Point. Included in the responsibilities of the BPW are: Eliminate public health hazards, including surfacing wastewater; Prevent the contamination of groundwater, surface water, and drinking water supplies by improperly treated wastewater; Ensure that all wastewater treatment systems are designed, constructed, operated, and maintained in a manner that promotes sanitary and healthful conditions, and to provide for the long-term operation of these systems; Provide educational and assistance to the public in support of these purposes.
